If you’ve been with us for some time, no doubt you’re aware of our Plate/VIN to Vehicle Decoder service. What you may not know is that we’ve been throwing time and resources at expanding its capacity to deliver even more of the features our customers have been asking us for.
Over the past few months, one of our major projects has been to expand our capabilities in the motorcycle sector to match what we offer for passenger and heavy vehicles throughout Australia (and New Zealand). While the rest of the global industry drags their feet on this crucial sector of the market, we’ve been labouring away and are pleased to announce Plate/VIN to PARts Motorcycle decoding has been launched and is available to select customers as we bring it fully online.
Not often do you get the luxury to proclaim something a world-first, but this new module can decode to kType, and with the help of the team at AMX we’re pushing for the same level of coverage as our passenger and heavy vehicle module by the end of the year. This is an extremely powerful solution, and one you don’t want to miss out on if you service the MC market at all.
It hasn’t just been the MC space that we’ve been pushing forward in either! The colourful and diverse New Zealand market is one that’s gone underserved for too long, so we’ve thrown some elbow grease at it and heavily redesigned our PARts NZ Plate & VIN solution.
It hasn’t been a simple process—up to 40% of the NZ market are grey imports—but our goal is for it to reach the same maturity as what we offer in the Australian market by mid-year. When it’s a labour of love, the work comes easy. And with significant interest from major players like Bendix, Fulcrum Suspension and more, you don’t want to be left without a tool this versatile if you’re operating in the land of the long white cloud.
You’d be forgiven for thinking these projects have taken up all our time lately, but work hasn’t slowed down on the core NEVDIS systems by any means. We’ve expanded the endpoints on our API to send and receive more data, including Rego Status, Written Off Vehicle Register (WOVR), basic vehicle info and compliance/manufacture year dates. If arming yourself and your business with such information will help you sell more products, this is the answer for you.
When it comes right down to it, what we’ve been working on is only as good as its adoptees. Thankfully, we’ve got possibly the biggest adoptee in the world on board with GPC, parent company to industry heavyweights like Repco, NAPA Auto Parts, Sparesbox, AMX Superstore and many more. PARts Plate ‘boosted’ Service will be active soon on Navigator (Repco’s B2B site), with VIN search already being powered directly by us! With the addition of PARts boosted Plate service to Repco, mechanics will have the ability to search most Grey imports and pre-1995 vehicles.
