COMMON QUESTIONS AND PRACTICAL ANSWERS FROM OUR TEAM

Frequently asked questions

At PARts our mission is to reduce data friction to increase your sales.

To do this we focus on data quality, that means collaboration and integration with sellers and all standards that add value to the “data transfer process” for suppliers and sellers.

It’s all about choice – after all, it’s your data.

Got a question? Check out the FAQ below for common questions and some practical answers from our team.

How do I get my product data to the greatest number of customers, faster?

    • PARts DB is the fastest way to get your brand data to leading sellers and marketplaces representing the majority of the Australian and New Zealand markets. This includes AMX, Automotive Superstore, Auto8, Bapcor Commercial, Cooldrive AFI, eBay, GPC, Wano, NAPA, Repco, Sparesbox and many more…
    • Supplier and brand data managed in PARts Console is updated to many key sellers within hours or less than 1x business day – well within best case update cycles.
My data is already high quality and, in a standard, what's PARts Herd got to do with it?
    • PARts Herd and CED services are the key to understanding your Seller’s data quality expectations (or setting your own). If data standards are the language of product and fitment data interchange, quality is about the words and sentences you build for each individual Seller, their market and customers.
    • Standards are just the beginning to provide the foundation basics on what a product is and what it fits but each Seller will expect different formats of attributes and other info for their customer – their unique selling proposition (USP) or point of difference.
    • Data quality is a supplier or brands way of listening to and communicating products value and trust in the eyes of the Seller customer and their customer. PARts Herd gives the Seller a measurable way to communicate their expectation by product, by part type, by vehicle or even commercial terms to the brand to make sure you can meet their quality expectations.
Who owns the data once I put it in PARts?
    • You do. PARts DB doesn’t own or control data – Switzerland always. We work with standards but give brands, suppliers and sellers a choice of data partnership and publishing options. Independence and choice is part of our DNA.
    • It’s always your choice – you can choose to control data access through PARts Permissions or share publishing rights with partners like Infomedia or TecDoc. No vendor locking, just options.
Why should I work with data standards?
    • Think of data standards as a basic language for communication. How would business work in Australia if we didn’t all speak Englishfor example?
    • Data standards like ACES PIES, MAM, Redbook and TecDoc are used in the automotive market to help build a language to describe and define vehicles, products, attributes and the relationship between them to help the customer understand what an oil filter is and if it fits their car as an example.
    • Some standards are owned by the aftermarket industry and help power the global auto parts trade, while others are commercial proprietary or owned by a channel or marketplace to help sell auto parts or cars. However, they are all different and specific to different product types, consumer channels or geographic locations.
    • PARts give you the choice to work with standards or formats like ACES PIES, Amazon, eBay, GPC backbone, Infomedia, MAM or TecDoc to help suppliers and sellers reduce data friction and increase sales in the best market and channel your product needs.

Why do I need PARts if I'm already in TecDoc?
    • Brand and supplier data managed locally in PARts in real time can be updated to Sellers within hours and is the fastest way to deliver TecDoc format data to larger, key sellers and channels across car, truck, motorcycle, power sports and more. This includes Amazon, AMX, Automotive Superstore, Auto8, Bapcor Commercial, CAPS Automotive, Cooldrive, eBay, GPC, MTQ, NAPA, Repco, Sparesbox to name a few.
    • Locally managed TecDoc brand data doesn’t need to travel around the world before eventually arriving back to where it started. Our direct “data pipes” to major sellers and channels mean you get the fastest possible route to market for your data. And, we can still update your data to TecDoc for you, its your choice.
Seller data quality and expectations is built into PARts – our PARts Herd system is designed to communicate
    • Sellers data quality expectations direct to the brand and working with PARts Console. Participating suppliers and brands can work in virtual real time with their Sellers to make sure the highest data quality help sell more product.
What benefits are there to managing TecDoc format data in PARts?

  • TecDoc and PARts DB have over 12 years of partnership experience and together have helped develop the adoption of data standards in Australia and New Zealand. PARts DB then focuses on data quality with solutions like PARts Herd to help brands understand seller expectations to sell more product.

    • Using standards is particularly important for anyone thinking global and our 24/7 support service options mean we can keep your digital data business needs running wherever they are.
Is PARts DB yet another product database I need to manage?
    • PARts aims to reduce the number of product and catalogue databases brands and suppliers need to use and there are many. Working with PARts DB is always about helping brands and sellers having one database and multiple deployments – a single source of truth.
    • PARts DB is built to work with data standards – it’s not a choice between PARts or a standard, but rather which standard or standards you choose to work with in PARts.
    • We work with other popular standards, formats and load files and can make sure your brand “source of truth data” is reflected as close to your core information as possible. Regardless, whether its ACES PIES, GPC backbone, Infomedia, MAM, TecDoc or selling on eBay, PARts can help map, manage, distribute and deliver low friction solutions to do whatever you need to increase sales.
    • The same data that feeds your customer also feeds your marketplace partners and your own company web site. Our mission is to let your data go wherever it needs to go in whatever format it needs to be in while reducing data friction.
